This mount is machined from a single billet of steel, not aluminum. There’s a reason for that. A modern 9mm slide sees roughly 3000g of acceleration per shot. In early testing, Apex tried 6061 and 7075 aluminum mounts. The rails tore off the base after just a few thousand rounds. Steel handles that force without deformation, giving you a mount that stays intact and holds zero round after round. The black PVD finish adds corrosion resistance, so sweat, rain, or humidity won’t eat into it over time.
The design includes a damper placed in the cavity under the front of the mount. This serves two practical purposes: it dampens vibration that can shake a dot loose, and it closes the light gap between the mount locking key and the slide. Less slop means more consistent returns to zero and a tighter fit on the gun.
Installation is straightforward. The mount is made specifically for Glock Gen 6 optic cuts, so it drops onto your factory slide without modification. Two 4mm x 0.7 mounting screws are included, each with a high-temp thread locker patch pre-applied. Torque them to 15 in-lb and you’re set. Apex recommends cleaning the slide before installation to ensure a clean mating surface.
This mount works with any optic that uses the ACRO or MPS footprint. If you have a first-generation Steiner MPS with the original factory clamp, Apex suggests using their Super Clamp for best results. The mount and screws are manufactured by Apex in Arizona.
