What is new in Gen6 compared with Gen5
- Grip: a more rounded grip with built-in palm swells and a new RTF6 texture that covers more area.
- Backstraps: press reports describe 2mm and 4mm backstraps. Check the product page for what ships in the box.
- Trigger: a flat-faced trigger and a shorter reach.
- Trigger guard: a deeper undercut so the hand can sit higher.
- Slide: serrations are cut deeper.
- Optics: no separate MOS line. The pistol is optic ready and ships with three polymer plates.
- Recoil spring: a single spring replaces the dual-spring setup.
- Barrel: the Glock Marksman Barrel stays, with a revised rifling profile and a new stepped chamber.
Some things did not change: the Safe Action trigger system and the 22 degree grip angle.
One source says Gen6 barrels are not interchangeable with Gen5 frames, and the other way round. Another says some internal parts no longer swap between generations. Check fit before you mix parts.
