This Apex Recoil Assembly is a direct drop-in replacement for the factory recoil spring and guide rod in your Springfield Hellcat Pro. The flange end of the guide rod has machined flats that let you clamp it securely in a standard bench vise when you need to remove or replace the guide rod cap screw. That simple detail makes spring swaps faster and safer, without damaging the rod.
This assembly includes a cycling washer, which is necessary for a standard ISMI recoil spring to function properly in a Hellcat-style slide. Without it, the spring won’t seat correctly during cycling. The guide rod cap screw holds the entire assembly together when it’s removed from the slide, so you don’t have to worry about parts flying loose during a spring change. Before assembly, a drop of Vibra-Tite 122 is applied to the end cap threads to keep the screw secure under recoil without being permanent.
